Meet the speakers

Three distinguished architects will share their expertise on Montessori architecture, sustainability, and educational space design.

Dr Victoria Marwa Heilman

Executive Director at TAWAH
Dr. Victoria Marwa is a leading architect and grassroots advocate, Dr. Heilman empowers women in Tanzania through brick-making and sustainable construction initiatives. With a PhD in Architecture from the University of Stuttgart, she leads projects that focus on community-driven housing, skill-building, and education spaces. Recognized as an SDG Innovation Champion, she was named one of the 50 most influential African women architects in 2024.

Benjamin Stæhli

Architect and Programme Manager at Arthur Waser Foundation
Benjamin Stæhli is a Swiss architect with a passion for communal and educational architecture, Benjamin has led major projects in Ethiopia, Singapore, and South Africa. He co-developed the Montessori Architecture design tool, a resource helping educators and architects design child-centered learning environments based on global research and best practices.

Steve Lawrence

Retired British Architect & Co-Author of ``Montessori Architecture``
With a career spanning decades in Montessori school design, Steve has shaped mixed-age group learning environments worldwide. His work includes designing Montessori institutions like Maria Montessori School (London) and Ajax Football Academy (Amsterdam). In collaboration with Benjamin Stæhli, he co-authored the book Montessori Architecture (2023)—a key guide in Montessori school planning.
